Title: Diamond Shape Small Bowl (( Carnival Glass ))
Post by: antiquerose123 on May 13, 2012, 08:05:05 PM
Hi....got this little carnival diamond shape bowl.  Has high luster to it with kinda a purple tinge to it.  Would that make it older due to that color/shine?  Not sure of the pattern on it.  Any idea of the maker or the age of it.  Small about 6 inches long and 4 inches wide....Candy Dish maybe?

Thanks

 :)

It's Indiana Glass "Pineapple & Floral" (aka "Pineapple & Fruit") footed compote in their Iridescent Gold. I believe it dates from (c) the 1970s.

Glen, thanks for the ID -- I have one, too :)

I would be interested if this pattern could have been made by some European maker as well, as this is the most abundant piece of Carnival glass I see here in Vienna, and I would rather doubt that huge amounts of American glass were imported during the 1970s. (But who knows...)

Hi Michael - I don't think it was made by one of the European makers - just Indiana in the USA. But it is very interesting that you say it is very abundant in Vienna. I know that rather a lot of Indiana's 1970s Carnival turns up in mainland Europe. Actually Indiana's contemporary Carnival turns up all over the world! In the UK we seemed to have more than our fair share of their large "Harvest Grape" punch sets  :o

Thanks a lot for the clarification, Glen!
Really interesting that it is American, I never would have guessed that.

Glad both Rocco and I got an ID on the idea.....and if we put the pictures a little closer together......we will have a set.
