Title: Older Chinese paperweight I think?
Post by: Nick77 on May 15, 2012, 08:42:26 AM
Am I correct that this is an older (1930's?) Chinese weight?

Hi Nick77,

IMHO I think it is modern chinese.

Best regards.

Marc.

Any other thoughts out there? As every reference I have found so far showing these cane styles in a fairly low dome states 1930's Chinese. Lter canes sweem to be much poorer quality even than these.

The "frilly-type" canes are typical of modern Chinese work from at least the past 20 years.

There are many examples of basic millefiori designs from recent years that are well formed with good setting and sizing of the canes.
