I thought it looked a possible candidate for Brockwitz, but don't see it in the catalogues. Quite distinctive with the horizontal moulded lines, and am thinking it might be classed as mariglold as the glass is clear. Height is 4.5"/115mm, and fair amount of base wear, so seems to have been around for some time. Seems an odd shape for a vase - so perhaps a sugar maybe? - and has quite a deep bird bath base. Would welcome all thoughts, and thanks for looking :)

I have this one too Paul in green, I took it for a posy vase, see pics.
I'm probably way off, but this Ebay listing reminds me of the shape.

thanks for the link Jayne, and would agree that this stepped design does look similar. Must admit I don't see it as a posy - it seems too wide at the top, unless we're missing a metal grill (but I'm sure we aren't). I've looked briefly at the Walther images on Pamela's site, but I can't see anything called Edith - have I missed it? Have you checked the Walther musterbuch catalogues? I'm now out until this evening, but will look again when I have the time. :)

You're right Paul it could just as easily be a sugar, although it seems a bit tall for a sugar to me, a posy was just my first impression with no good reason to think it.
Mine measures in at 11cm tall (4.25 inches) x 12.5cm (5 inches) diameter across the top. I did a quick check on the Glas-Musterbuch Catalogues and Presglas but found nothing, however I did find Walther Edith in the same shape as the Ebay listed blue one plus the same shape with a folded up rim, here on this Cloud glass link, listed as sweet dishes.

Edit: Water damage! That's probably what led me to think towards posy.

Mine has 9 panels (?) (sections around the diameter) and 6 "steps" between base and rim.

You do realise that if you go to the Walther page, wait till it loads, then type ctrl + f, you can type whatever you are looking for in the search box that opens at the bottom or top depending on your browser. That works for any web page. It's the same command for searching documents.

Thanks Anne, as I say I was looking too quickly for my own good, and simply missed seeing the Edith pieces on Pamela's site.
I agree with the comment about number of rows - all patterns, whatever their individual design seem to have six profiled convex mouldings lines, running horizontally around the outside.
Full marks to the ebay seller for doing some homework and getting the pattern name and factory correct.
So, Jayne, seems you were right and this is an item from the Walther 'Edith' range. Unfortunately, it seems I've packed mine away in one of umpteen boxes for the time being - it happens often when I don't get anywhere immediately (it's called a lack of patience).
Thanks to all for doing the research (whilst I was sitting comfortably and enjoying myself in the British Library) ;)

Haha Paul, now I know how to describe the steps properly! Yes it certainly looks like it could be a cousin to Walther Edith. :)
