Title: Hinged lid trinket box with flower decoration on lid
Post by: alilbitretro on May 26, 2012, 05:41:13 PM
Anyone have any idea what this is, when it was from, what it was used for?

Pic does not do it justice.  It's about three or four inches across, about an inch and a half or two inches tall.  Hinged lid.  Glass has a "crackle" like appearance.  Light yellow in color with flowers on top.

Thanks in advance.

It's a thingy for your dressing table, but I suspect it's alabaster not glass

It's a powder box with a decal transfer. Made in Italy circa 1960s

I have an oval one of these in frosted white glass, bought new in the 1980s in Italy, and a white alabaster one bought 1970s in the UK, and I'd agree with Christine that yours looks like alabaster rather than glass.
