I wonder if anyone out there can help identify this pair of glass items.
They have been in my family for at least 60 years, possibly longer. They stand 4 inches high, measure 8 inches across and the base has a diameter of 3.5 inches. They are identical in design but the shape of the upper section is not identical.
I would appreciate any help and information.

Hi, can you supply a detailed photo of the base of the tazza? If it is star cut is it star cut to the edge of the foot or is there a border of plain glass between the star cutting and the edge?

I'm going to tentatively date this to between the wars, on the basis that I've seen that star pattern used on other glass from the 1920s, so you may have to push ownership in your family back one more generation. Where were they living circa 1930? The reason I ask is that I collect Manchester glass, and a surprising amount of it offered on eBay is from the local area, more than you would expect statistically, even long after the relevant glassworks closed down, so if it was bought within reasonable distance of a local major glassworks, that could be a clue.

Just to add, they are pressed or moulded glass, not hand blown and hand cut. ::)

Well my grandparents came to the UK from Russia around the time of the first world war and they settled in London. I believe these may have belonged to them originally.
They do appear to have fine seems in them indicating that they are moulded as suggested by neilh.
I know my grandparents brought a lot of possessions with them from Russia so I don't know if that gives anymore of a clue as to their origin.

Some companies did have glass showrooms in the Hatton Garden area of London, but I would guess they bought this from a department store, perhaps even a place like Woolworths. At least we have a fair idea of when and where it was bought!

Just in case I misled anyone, the 'fine seems' I referred to only appear in the base, not the upper part.
