I have a Crystal four sided pyramid. It has a crystal mark on that I have not seen before and cant make out (must get new glasses). I have mirror imaged the first picture as the only way to photograph it was through the piece.( there are no scratches on the sides as seen in the picture but the base has wear.) Any help appreciated. Pete

On searching further I have found the mark for Riedel Crystal Austria. (Claus Josef Riedel). If the board wants to use the pictures please feel free. Pete

If anyone is interested I found a piece on Riedel but can only work out that this pyramid pre dates 1999. Cant find anything else on this piece but what I read on here was interesting. A 17m pyramid with 1756 individual prisms Could this be on of them ??

That evening, the celebration started under a massive Riedel-built glass pyramid 17 meters and 56 centimeters high by 17 meters and 56 centimeters wide at the bottom, with 1,756 individual prisms, all strategically formulated to reflect the Riedel dynasty’s year of birth.

Riedel it is indeed; we have two further examples of the mark in the labels collection here:

Interesting article about the prisms, I've not heard of those before. I wonder if there are any photos of the 17m pyramid? Would love to have seen that!

The mark changes from year to year - the box around it rotates so you can actuually decipher the year in which it was made.

It is an interesting story. A picture on here not the best but will keep looking. Theres no way my prism was part of that ;D far too small. A fanciful idea on my part I think. It could be part of their logo and given as gifts ? Some of the strangest Decanters I have ever seen are made by Riedel. More art than decanter. I am trying to contact them and find out about the pyramid.
Ivo. Do you have an idea how the date code works ? My mark is the same as one in the links above.

The sandblasted monogram was introduced in 1960 and i'm sure the people ar Riedel can tell at a glance...

That's interesting with the changing mark...
I am quite certain the the CJR mark was replaced at some point (1990s?); I have some more recent pieces of art glass, one marked "RIEDEL" in capitals (I have seen this on stemware, too), and another in a sort of stylized handwriting. See pics.
