Title: I suspect a good maker but the base has me fooled

I recently picked up this rather "worn" paperweight that reminds me of Scottish wieights, but I really do not know its origins.  Help.

It looks like an Ysart harlequin similar to one I have just posted.
I do have an Ysart harlequin and it has an H cane and paper sticker and a totally flat bottom

Hi.  It looks to me to have a layered 'canopy' with ice pick bubbles through it, and is a design sometimes called an 'Aladdin's Cave'. Perthshire (and others) made some of  these, but that said, the treatment of the base and the poor quality glass suggest to me that it is probably from Belgium or the Alsace region, where the design originated.

It is not an Ysart weight. I have never yet seen an Ysart "Harlequin" pattern with five peripheral bubbles. The profile is too fllat and the coloured chips are not of the Ysart palette. The "stem bubbles" continue beneath the weight - which is not an Ysart style.

Alan's "Belgian or Alsace" thought is much more likely to be correct.
