Title: Horn Handled Bowl, Rindskopf, Kralik?
Post by: Ohio on June 13, 2012, 07:26:08 PM
Picked this up today & thought it might be narrowed it down to these two. 6" width & 2 3/4" height. Pontil treatment reminded me of some Rindskopf I have, but I lack the expertise to figure out which it might be, Rindskopf or Kralik? Assistance is appreciated. Thanks, Ken

I would attribute this to Kralik. Their pontil work, like Rindskopf, can be all over the place as far as the finish quality.  Rindskopf is not really known for much threaded work like this, although you do see similar bowl shapes by them in a couple of their decors.  This bowl style can be found, more commonly mounted on top of a metal compote base, generally consisting of a standing figure or such.

Nice example with the Antlers..

Thanks Craig, I appreciate the attribution as I am not actually up on this type of glass while you know what is what & by whom when it comes to this. Ken

just for interest there is a bowl that I think is slightly bigger than yours (12 crimped rim) and in a different colourway, but looks to be the same design and decor, with a bone handled basket/support, in Truitts Bohemian Glass 1880-1940 opage 140.  It is under Unidentified but things have moved on apace since the book was written.
