Hello! I just inherited a vase I have admired in my grandmother's china cabinet. I'm almost sixty and I remember it for about 40 years. It is approximately 7" tall, iridescent blue with pearlized hearts and vines. I've attached two pictures. I have searched for days and cannot figure out who made this vase. I will deeply appreciate any assistance in identifying this vase.
Warm regards;
Karen

Hello and welcome to the gmb!
:o
I know nothing about really good old expensive glass - it's way out of my league, but my jaw just dropped.
I saw a fabulous and elegant tall vase in an antique shop in Amsterdam many years ago, (when we visited frequently). It was Tiffany, the real thing. Taller and a different shape, but to yours but the same decor.
I used to visit the shop just to drool, twice a year.
Don't get too ecxitewd!
You'll need somebody who knows a lot more than I do to explain why it is or isn't.
It could well be somebody far more recent emulating Tiffany - I'm afraid I can't blow your pics up big enough to see the surface texture clearly.
Well, I hope you're going to cause a stir of some sort here with this vase! ;D
It is fabulous, whatever it is.

My first reaction was American studio glass - perhaps Abelman or Lundberg or Orient & Flume.
-
I've drooled over their work too Ivo, again, that's as far as I get! :'(
-
...or Carlson perhaps, who did some heart decor also... ???
-
;D
Does anybody suspect the Amsterdam shop might have got it wrong?
Or did they just want £6,000 for a good quality vase..... about 10 years ago?
-
I cant see the pics properly...but there is this one, the shapes of the hearts? leaves? look similar...Hope the link is ok to use?

Good detective work, selina! The other companies that were mentioned would have been signed, and the shape and pattern are wrong for them. I was also wondering if the vase was Durand.
-
I'm very impressed with Selina's sleuthing too!
Shape-wise, the Durand one is most similar to the piece in question.
The vase in Amsterdam was very tall and slender, with a delicate foot on a slim "ankle", a narrow neck and flanged rim.
It was a pretty deco sort of shape, which did encourage me to suspect the Tiffany id might be correct.

This gives a better view...

I think you've cracked it, Selina - have a banana! ;D
-
Shame I don't have as much luck with my own! LOL
-
That's it! Thank you, thank you, THANK you all. I truly appreciate your efforts.
Have a wonderful day.

It's also very similar in decor to this one which is Imperial Freehand- I wonder why they used such a similar design?

It's pretty??? ;D
Perhaps they're all "tributes" to Tiffany? (I'm still fairly convinced the one in Amsterdam was right. It takes something of serious quality for me to start making pilgrimages to drool.)
John Ditchfield does very similar work too.

' Perhaps they're all "tributes" to Tiffany? '
yes I think you're probably right.
I shouldn't put this on this thread but I love the Imperial Freehand pieces, I like their decors and the plainer shapes
some great eye candy here
