I was selling a Loetz vase and an Isle of Wight signed Harris piece (small seaward globe vase) several weeks ago, i just happened upon the collectorsweekly website, which tells you how many people are watching ebay auctions, and was excited because my 2 pieces were among the highest watched, and cant remember how, but stumbled upon a vase on there, with Harris in the title, selling in California, it was finishing in a few hours time, at about £30, with only 7 watchers !! It was this lovely rare piece, I tried searching on ebay normally and struggled to find it , it was listed in studio/handcrafted glass.
Not having or trusting these sniping sites, i set the alarm for 3. AM, put in my quite high last minute bid, and won ! I wasn't the only late bid, but was quite happy, although just got stung for £32 customs charges as well, and it took nearly 3 weeks to get here !
So, here it is , a gorgeous and rare Isle of Wight 'Undercliff summer' vase. Made by Michael sometime in his last years. :'(
Described in Mark Hills book, page 110, a complex and time consuming piece to make.
One of those pieces that i would love to know exactly when it was made, and how it ended up at a garage sale in California ?? I wonder if its possible Timothy may remember the actual piece ?
Just under 9inches tall. Its very tactile, you can feel the trees.
Hope it brings a ray of sunshine to your day!
Regards

That would have originally been exported to the States (the give away is the engraved England, I think it would usually just be Isle of Wight).
To see the most watched items in a category on ebay you can also use this page, it is set for art glass at the moment but you can change it to another category yourself: http://pulse.ebay.co.uk/Art-Glass_W0QQsacatZ955
