Diameter across the base is 4", height 2½". black with aventurine splodges. It is identified but as I've not seen one on the board before I thought it's worth having as a quiz question to see if anyone else recognises it. 8)
Secondary question: it's lost its atomiser top, where might I find a replacement?
-
seriously, I haven't a clue Anne..............but might take a chance and say either Murano or Scottish, or Chinese or......... ;)
how about cannibalising a similar neck sized collar and bulb from a broken atomizer.
-
just a guess Nason...?
I don't know if this site may be of any help with the missing top, I think they also undertake some repairs:
http://ffirstimpressions.com/atomiser-repairs.html
I think some of the parts can also be found on ebay, although sourcing the exact sized components may be tricky. :)
-
Paul & Greg, my thought was Nason when I saw it, but it isn't! I was very surprised when I saw the name on it...
Thank you both for the suggestions re the replacement... I don't have a broken one to cannibalise but the replacements on Greg's link look like the very thing. I'll measure the neck and see if they have a size match. :)

Well one person has it right! Well done to Robert (bOBA) - it is in fact Royal Brierley! Here is the mark on the base to prove it...
-
Thx Anne, it was a wild guess .......... I have just noticed a thread on Royal Brierley studio stuff in the British Glass dept. of GMB that looks contemporary with this atomiser.....
Robert (bOBA)

I wish my wild guesses were as good as yours. :)
I must say that I don't really like this, I only picked it up because it was marked and therefore a useful reference. Although I may like it better with a new top part. ;)
-
this seemed a suitable place for this R/Brierley atomiser, but it can be moved if inappropriate. Vases I've seen quite commonly, in a variety of colours, but this is the first atomiser, apart from Anne's.
I used to collect these things, but then I had so many and didn't know how to show them, so gave up buying them - I expect one day they'll all go to the charity shop - it's the older deco style I prefer.
Suppose I could always put some Old Spice in this one and give it a go ;D ;)
this one does have the 'Studio' backstamp.
-
Ooooh that's very nice Paul!
-
Yep,very nice,there at least 3 different shapes,I've found so far ::), of these,vases I'm up to 18 !
-
There are a few of these around Paul, so they aren't that unusual :-[ I've seen a number but they aren't my thing.
But I wonder if they were more often made in the darker colours as I don't recall seeing any in pinks or reds.

think I'd agree that this dark colourway is possibly the most common in their Studio range - for a while I did collect these RB pieces, and mostly I seem to remember that it was vases of some form that I used to find. I think Keith proabably has all of the colours, but the range of shapes etc. is amazing.
I got into the atomiser thing after finding a few from the 1920 period - some nice cut ones - but I think the interest has waned somewhat and they've languished in the shed without any tlc for some time now. But they're small and make a good theme for someone I'm sure.
Oh, so my atomizer is commonplace is it.......... you've ruined my day ;) ;)
-
;D sorry. But they are very pretty and I suspect they went down well with department stores - they make great pressies.
m
-
Only got one of these Paul, four shapes known so far, ::) ;D ;D
-
I think this is the same shape as Paul's one (reply #15) but in the same colourway as my original one... again no top fitting, and interestingly, found in the same charity shop in Morecambe as the first one was four years ago! This one does not have the RB Studio backstamp though... what do you think Keith, RBS or not? Dimensions are 3" high, 3½" wide.
-
Spot on Anne, the dimensions match, there are 5 shapes of atomizer and one cologne bottle, have all in the collection now ;D I do have permission to use the archive photo. ;D ;D
-
Thanks Keith, that is good to know.
It's curious that my decor isn't shown in the archives image above - almost as curious as why two without their tops turn up in the same charity shop 4 years apart! ;D
I didn't much like the decor when I found the first one, but I've quite taken to it now. 8)
-
Topless ones turn up a lot, have one I picked up because of it's odd colour, as for the archive pic' there a few not shown and some I've never seen, maybe the aventurine pieces came after the photo ? more archive stuff included of colours I have yet to find ::) ;D ;D
-
I like the top one of those three!
-
Got a small 'twig' vase ( terrible name ) in red but no bowls yet ::)
