Title: Pokal Jar? Bohemian?
Post by: Ohio on July 06, 2012, 02:35:30 AM
Ran across this today & have never found one of these before. Deep Cobalt Blue glass is 3/8" thick, 10 polished panels all ground & polished smooth as well is the base & all rims top & base, 9" height & only a 3 1/4" diameter. I suspect its Bohemian & maybe a Pokal Jar? Other than being filthy dirty with decades of grime its undamaged. Is this a Pokal Jar or is it too small to qualify? Thanks, Ken

looks like a valid Bohemian Biedermeier Pokal, in cobalt blue, panel cut, gold engraved - top find. Maker possibly Egermann.

Technically with a lid I think this classifies as a Dekal Pokal

I suspect the gilding and the glass were done by different companies (which is quite usual)

The glass could have been done by any of  Moser, Riedel or Josephine maybe others.

the gilding  -well the list is even longer

nice though!

Thanks Ivo & Mike, I appreciate the info. Glad Ivo posted the "Dekal=lid" to save me asking another question. Ken
