Title: Looking for information about maker and age for an unusual comport w/Baskets

Has anyone ever seen an old compote like the one in my pics? It has 6 baskets with applied handles, which hang from the 6 applied 'arms' on the centerpiece. The glass baskets have applied handles and cut/polished bottoms.

The centerpiece has a 'fluted' column and an applied top shallow bowl.

HI and welcome to the forum,
         This is a sweetmeat tree , not that uncommon ,you will find an identical 1 here , http://www.antique-glass.co.uk/Table_glass.htm
at the bottom of the page , the photo also enlarges, I have seen a few of these and my opinion is  that they are late 19th early 20thc made in the Georgian style , a period Georgian example would be very rare and very valuable .

Thanks to all who helped solve this puzzle. It is good to finally know the purpose of this glass piece. It's complete too, so I'm quite pleased about that.

Hi,i was just going through some books & found something similar to your piece.
Epergne with sweetmeat glasses in basket form,suspended from arms springing free from a tall central column.
A high pyramid of one saver above another in gradulating sizes.

And this refers to an old piece c1753 where a Lady of the house describes how to use it.
Salvers are filled with all kinds of dry & wet sweetmeats,colour'd jellies,creams,biscuits,crisp'd almonds etc,Top salver must have large preserved fruit.
