I got a lovely pair of crystal wine glasses, at the door to the shop I hit the bag against the wall so now have one lovely wine glass :-[ I thought I would ask about the pattern as it seems very distinctive. It is 18.5cm in height. Where the stem meets the bowl it looks like it is cupping the bowl with 4 'petals' you can see two on the photo. It has a 5 second ping (that means good quality to me ;D) and is a good weight. I know its not easy but while im burning my eyeballs on a Replacement site or two I might get lucky on here. Thanks. Pete

Pete - I do have burning eyeballs from too much time spent on the 'replacements' webb (forgive the pun) sites ;) So sorry to hear of your disaster and that you now have only 50% of what you started out with - might this mean a saving on alcohol ;)
As some of us know, there are many, many hundreds of patterns of drinking glasses - some of the designs being very similar, and the job of identification is made all the more difficult by poor photographs. I assume that your glass is without a backstamp - although I notice you don't include a pic. of the base. Doubtless that won't help anyway, but wondered if there was a pontil depression or not - assuming there isn't, then you may stand a better chance of finding this pattern, as it will probably be a more modern design, and for obvious reasons these are not uncommon. Unfortunately, I don't think there are very many people here who spend time on id's for these things.
Have you tried www.discontinueddesigns.co.uk
Regret that I don't have a clue regarding your glass - I still have a few dozen of my own I'm struggling with.

Seems we are in the minority on here Paul :) There's no back stamp. Never understood not marking pieces. I would be so proud if I was producing these pieces. The glass is a modern piece I think. The base is slightly concave. Email me a few pictures and I will keep an eye out for the patterns on my trawls through the sites. Pete

thanks for the offer Pete.
As you'll know, there are some mystery glasses on the 05 Crystal Patterns site - and I'm disinclined to add to their number - it's probable that there are too few people interested in id's for these glasses, so adding more unknowns is a bit pointless, and I'm posting only those glasses for which I know the factory and design/pattern, which means it's all grinding a bit slow, but maybe when I run out of ideas perhaps I'll throw in the towel and add some mystery pieces of my own. Presently I have some Brierley, Richardson, W/Corbett that are proving difficult - so may well send you pix and take you up on your offer of help. If only there weren't so many different named patterns :o
Modern pieces like yours are without a pontil depression, usually, and instead they have a slightly convex small 'bump' in the centre of the foot where the pontil mark might have been. Of course, if I see your pattern, will give you a shout. :)

I'm only putting Id'd pieces on as that would seem to be the reason for looking on there. An Id'd and Un Id'd section would be good. I must admit I get a buzz if I find a pattern after a long search. I usually see things while looking for something else. I have the same problem with some Edinburgh and Leith as you know. Good hunting Paul.

I came across this one tonight - you might like to try it, at least it doesn't have hundred of patterns for each factory, and you might find something you're searching for www.glasswareauction.co.uk

I will take a look at that site. I looked at the glass again and it doesnt have the Convex bump. I'm a newbie in the glass game and appreciate help in learning more every day. Its making my 'hunting' a lot more interesting and much more selective. Thanks. Paul
