Very difficult to obtain a really accurate image of this piece, it has a slight opalescence to it which camera won't pick up. 9 1/4" high

I thought this was an Aseda design but I can not find any references to it, a seller in a local antiques center has one marked as Bo Borgstrom but they are generally not the best places for attributions!

There's nothing wrong with Japanese glass; it's no "cheaper" than much other glass in the quality sense. It's just necessarily not particularly collectable. And it's not generally new either.

Those hoops look like an Alstefors vase to me :-\ I don't know if it is, but that was my instinctive thought.

Deffo not Alsterfors ;-)
I have seen these before and I remember a few years ago one particular reputable Scandinavian glass dealer told me that they were by Aseda but I can't seem to find any thing to confirm that.

you're right...the hoops aren't the same at all.
I like the base mould, nicely done and also the casing and it's a great shape.

Since seen another of these vases with Aseda/Bo Borgstrom label.

I'd go with that :) I have a Bo Borgstrom in this opalescent orange now.
