Title: St. Louis paperweight (I think)

Having now built up a collection of reference books and using the internet I still find it's not always easy to confirm a maker.
After lots of checking I believe I have traced some of the canes and that this is a St.Louis weight.
Can anyone confirm please?

Which canes do you believe are a match to Saint Louis? And what are the references to matches?

I am not proficient in recognising canes that are not Scottish, but I think this weight is probably Bohemian / Silesian or possibly one of the "recently discovered" French makers: St Mande / Grenelle.

Hi Nick.

It is European, but not French. It is a typical product from Silesia or the Lauscha region of Germany. Typical canes, typical spatter cushion for the canes, typical flat not highly polished base. See pages 308 to 312 of Peter von Brackell's 2010 book 'Classic Paperweights from Silesia / Bohemia' for very similar pieces. I'm afraid some of the older American (and UK) books are a bit dodgy on certain aspects of paperweight ID.
