Title: Another unknown English I believe

Me again another one who'se identity eludes me it's a miniature 50mm in diameter 30mm tall. Closest I can find is again in Robert Hall's book, an Arculus miniature, but also I can find similar Walsh Walsh canes. As  you can see the canes are highly domed and the pontil has been broken off within the dished base.
I love this weights colours.

Hi Nick.

Correct - a low domed Arculus weight.  It is very hard to distinguish Arculus and Walsh Walsh items, as Walsh Walsh ending up owning the Arculus factory and produced very similar paperweights at both (probably mixing canes from the two and from different periods...). However, the 'Chequer' weights and these low dome weights are believed to be Arculus factory.  The larger versions (approx 3 inch to 3 1/2 inch diameter) vary from awfully messy to very neat, and often have '1848' date canes in them - see images below.

Thanks Alan yes I've had a dated large sized one before as below and as you say not very tidily made, but not seen the miniatures other than the one in Robert Hall's book that was similar in style but different canes. I guess this miniature dates from 1920's to 30's then?

I agree: 1920s -1930s. The miniatures are certainly less common than the standard size,.
