Title: 14" Glass purse or handbag , Age and origin help please .
Post by: davem on September 04, 2012, 04:12:08 PM
Hi yet again from Ireland , I found this today , was not expensive so I thought I'd chance it , if all else fails it will be handy for future goldfish shopping :)

Cased glass with candy-cane applied handles ,  measures 14" and is very heavy , prob around 3kg . Has ground pontil and some but not a huge amount of wear to the base .
Is this Italian or perhaps Japanese ?

It does not glow like my Jobling green pine cone bowls under UV light !
There is one on ebay with same pleated shapethat is described as vintage  .
Many thanks for any help once again , Dave.

Thank's was not sure so glad I checked before misleading buyers .

Just because it was made in China and is modern it surely does not mean that it is worthless , I'm sure I shall sell it at an honest profit :)
It must cost a fair bit to import these heavy items from China.

Dave.

I agree that contemporary Chinese glass often has very good decorative value. :)

My brother used a large Victorian cut glass jug to take the goldfish to the vet. I had to steady it, without warming it up too much, in the car.  ::)
