Hi all, Is this a Wedgwood bird ? It is 8cm in height and 10.5 wide. The base is not etched, is this usual or are they all signed. The base is not polished. Thanks. Pete

Looks like a Wedgwood second; they're not marked

Would the black fleck in it be the reason for a second. It's in good condition apart from that. Seen a good few birds without the beak !!

Probably

Thanks Lustrousstone ;)

Yes, this is a Wedgwood second Pete, Christine is absolutely correct.. They sometimes were sold with a label, but not acid etched on the base. The black inclusion is most likely the reason for selling as a second.
Keep showing us your birdies....I only collect glass birds and animals.

I prefer to think the black mark shows this is a female bird ;) I have the other bird up for ID but no answers yet. Not really had chance to search in-depth yet. I dont collect yet I seem to have acquired a unit full of various glass and paperweights that just don't get listed. Mats Jonnason weights seem to stay as well as I can pick them up quite cheap. I regret selling the ones I had especially the large Polar Bear one. :(
