Title: Substantial petal vase.
Post by: liberty1 on April 04, 2006, 01:09:59 PM
I have just listed this vase on e bay but would love to give it some sort of identification which it deserves.
It is a smoky brown colour and optics all the way down. Footed base very heavy and with obligatory polished pontil.

Hope I did this correctly.

My guess is LSA or Krosno, both Poland, mainly because of the pontil and glass thickness but a little older than we are used to seeing from these companies maybe and not sure if either did smoke.

For smoke you'd sooner look in the other nordic countries: Joachimsthal, Maastricht, Johansfors, Süssmuth, WMF, Holmegaard etc - I can not remember ever having seen smoke coming from Poland (no jokes please)
Title: Question for Ivo I think!

Thanks for your input so far into identification of petal vase. I have looked through the namesyou gave but haven't been able to come up with anything. However another ebayer suggested Stromberghytten as the maker and said that one of the designers worked for a short time at Whitefriars. Can you shed any light on this info.
As always thanks in advance.
Cheers
Doris
