Hi I have a piece of glass which is iridescent on the outside and has a mass of bubbles and moss like inclusions encased within. It's a chunky, heavy piece of glass with the exterior being smooth, but you can feel the raised bubbles within the interior of this glass. There's no label or makers mark and I purchased it from an antique shop but the seller knew nothing about it other than it came from his personal collection and that he had purchased it from an antiques fair. Does anyone know anything about this glass please? Thanks :D

Hello Chriss :) - regret I can't give you an id. However, although the outline shape appears classical, I have a feeling that the ground/matt looking base may possibly be much more recent. Hope someone can offer more details.

It's the "Unknown Romanian Maker". I do think these have some age, they appear from all over the world, folk do pick them up thinking; "hmmm, interesting? I wonder what it is." I heard of somebody with about 30 odd bits, I've had 4 (gave one away, regret it).
The identifying features these pieces contain are:-
*Biggish air bubbles, with black gritty inclusions. Often featured more heavily towards the base.
(Often confused wrongly with Schott-Zweisel)
*Coloured enamels in the walls of the vessels with a highly characterisitc feature... there is a tiny air bubble in a halo of denser enamel, which fades as it gets to the edge of the halo - it's the way the enamels are used in bits of Nazeing and Grey-Stan.
*A bright, rainbowy iridesence on the surface of the piece.
*Ground,but not polished, flat bases.
*Thick, heavy glass, often with pulls in, or other small features applied to, the surface of the vessel.
