Title: Czech Or Murano Yellow and Green Cased Vase
Post by: Greg. on September 26, 2012, 10:54:26 AM
A little unsure about this one, possibly Czech or Murano I would imagine. Yellow and green cased in clear and chamfered base edge.

Measures 4.5 inches tall and just over 3.5 inches wide. Fairly heavy for its size 765 grams in weight. No UV reaction to the glass.

All thoughts welcome.

Thanks
Greg

Wow, that's a tough one...

My first thought was Czech, and Skrdlovice; but I am not really able to find a matching pattern. Pieces designed by Zdena Strobachova in 1964 do have a similar shape; and there is one vase in the pattern book (PN 6430) with a height of 11 cm, which woud fit quite well. -- But: the few I have seen from this range came with colourless casing; and if yours is yellow (looks more green here on my monitor) it would be quite an unusual colour for Skrdlovice.

and to a >> vase in David's gallery (https://picasaweb.google.com/lasilove/CzechoslovakiaSkrdlovice#5759643722649247330)

So let's see what the Czech glass experts will say ;)

Hi, I have one of these, it took me a while to figure out the exact pattern, it is quite similar to Strobachova 6430, There is another pattern, Spinar 6308 which is flattened, the Strobachova quite rounded. My 6308 is like yours, a slightly odd colouring for Skrdlovice, but still recognisable. I agree with Rocco it looks green to me not yellow. They are quite small vases too for Skrdlovice, both about 10cm. I would say probably Strobachova 6430, which I have in light blue.

Many thanks Robert and Michael, I thought this one may prove tricky!

Just looking at the colour again, I think your both correct with it being green, both the green and blue are fairly subtle/pale on my piece.

Just to confirm was this particular Strobachova 6430 pattern designed in 1969..?

Many thanks again.

64 like the pattern number is the way Skrdlovice years are usually described,

Thanks again Robert, that's useful to know.

Just noticed in my first post that I actually got both colours wrong, I think that officially makes me colour blind, I had been wondering! - Just to confirm the colours on mine are indeed pale blue and green!  :)
