Title: French? Diamond cut Amethyst Cased vase

I have seen an amber version of this 18cms amethyst cased vase on the web attributed as French, late 19th century. Does this seem  likely and does anyone have any better ID attribution please? Base is flat, pattern in photo #2 is just showing through from top. Thanks John

Most unlikely attribution. First of all it seems to be pressed not cut (mark the straight line down the pattern where the mould closed) ; the bottom seems to be finished at the same time (you can see some wear on the rounded bottom).  No idea what it is though - just what it isn't.  I would guess Italy, but could also be Taiwan.

Thanks Ivo will try Italian area, although it will probably end being from Taiwan!
