Title: pressed black milk jug
Post by: Paul S. on November 17, 2012, 12:57:06 PM
design wise this looks similar to something called a 'helmet' shape - a fashionable design from the early C19, apparently - although this is probably about a hundred years later in date.     Pressed, with two mould seams, and sits on what looks to be a pressed brass pedestal, which show no signs of plating of any sort.       Thought it would show deep purple under a strong light, but doesn't, so assuming it really is black glass.         Don't get the feeling it's British - but could be very wrong - I've seen shed loads of milk jugs but never one quite like this, so if anyone has any ideas would be glad to hear, and thanks for looking. :)
