Title: Weight ID?
Post by: mmarc77 on December 26, 2012, 05:35:57 AM
Curious what the floral weight on the left is? The Fleur-de-lis on the vase indicates it is French made?

Hi mmarc77

I think it is quite common for the same sulphide element to be used by different glass factories.  I could believe the floral plaque weight was Belgian, but not necessarily Val St Lambert - there were many glass factories making items along these lines.  But the paperweight might also be from Alsace, or somewhere in France.  The fleur-de-lis could indicate a French origin, but the design has been used in many national and local emblems across Europe over the years. So there is a bit of uncertainty, I fear!
