Title: Wild Postmodern Crystal, Yellow & Cobalt Glasses Maybe Scandi?
Post by: beaubow on January 01, 2013, 05:21:15 PM
Anyone have any idea what these are?  I suspect they're Scandinavian, but I can't find anything like them.  They each have a punt with an impressed logo of crown over an anchor on the interior rim.

I cannot see the crown, but what I can make out of the image of the prunt looks suspiciously like that of the Anchor Hocking mark.

Definitely not Anchor Hocking, unless they started making high-quality, hand-made glassware in the last twenty years!

Here's another picture of the punt:

I still can't see exactly what it's like, but it now does appear to be a fair bit different - sorry!
However, I can see a lot of striations in the glass itself, which is also rather thick and lumpy; so although yellow is a difficult colour to use, I can't say I agree completely about it being "high quality".
It looks fairly newish.  :)

Where on the planet are you?

I'm in the Northeast in the United States, in Philadelphia.  Shape-wise, they are a little wonky, but it seems intentional, that the fact they were hand-made was supposed to stand out.  The work that went into them is complex: the yellow had to be gathered and marveled, the cobalt rim applied as well as the cobalt foot.  And then the stamped punt was applied.

My suspicion is that they're Royal Copenhagen (who sold glassware for a brief period in the 80s and 90s), Kosta, or some similar company, but I keep drawing blanks.  The crown/anchor logo seems so familiar, but I can't remember where I've seen it.

You can compare your logo to the one on this eBay Royal Copenhagen auction. My eyes are not sharp enough to match them against one another. Ken

as is Livanu from Latvia and LaFiore from Mallorca - both worked in combinations of yellow, clear and blue.
