This is the second part of my other thread on older MUrano weights:
Having listed a thread recently on dating Murano paperweights and that I had not knowingly seen any Murano items apart from one that I would have said dated from the 1845 - 1950's period I have in the last week picked up 2 that I wonder about, this is the second and I feel more genuine older Murano weight.
The glass is a rather grey/yellow and if it is Murano I have never seen such thin canes set right in the bottom of the dome before, any thoughts on is it Murano and it's age?
55mm diameter and 50mm tall.

Hi Nick
This does not look like any Murano weight that I have seen. It may have been made by someone using bought in Murano canes (not an unusual practice - eg Jim Hart, Liskeard Glass, Edinburgh Crystal, etc), but it might also be a Chinese product. The canes do not look very modern though.

Thanks Alan, I thought the cogged canes seemed Murano in style but also have never seen anything like it, thought it may just be old Murano in the absence of having seen any.
Sadly this and the other dated weight was bought as part of a large collection, the majority had numbered stickers so may have been identified by the original owner but no info now exists apparently.
Regards
Nick
