Title: Italian Musket style bottles
Post by: Troon on January 23, 2013, 12:28:50 AM
Hi everyone, great site!

I have been trying to track down some information regarding some pistol shaped wine bottles. Here are some links to the various images. Appreciate any help or ideas you might have.

What I would like to mainly know is the vintage of their manufacture, their manufacturer and what the marking "SP" on the butt of the pistol might mean.

Thanks in advance!

Hiya and welcome to the GMB.

Usually all novelty bottles in Italy are made by Vetreria Etrusca www.vetreriaetrusca.it/  but I cannot see your duelling pistol  in their catalogue.

http://italian.alibaba.com/product-free-img/mocambo-10-years-in-bucaneer-pistol-bottle-120534765.html  does not reveal the maker of the container.

It may have been a special customer production, or of older date. Or made by someone else who has so far failed to surface.  ;D

Thanks Ivo, I had guessed it may have been this company.

Any ideas what the SP on the bottle might mean at all?
