Title: black pressed - old or new?

It feels new and has a shiny liquorice colour. Is it new? 3" high = 7.5 cms

might just be something that the States people call a 'spooner'  -  which was a C19 small stubby vase like container for holding teaspoons.
Does it remain black when up to a very strong light?  -  and is there any wear?

It is definitely a spooner and it is fully opaque black, not dark amethyst. But fully opaque has been with us since the 1840s so no surprises there.  The bottom has no wear; the seam for the bottom plate is on the edge.

If it was from the other side of the pond, then that might increase the chances that an old mould has been re-used - I believe a variety of older pressed glass designs have been seeing the light of day in recent decades.          Think these things were produced originally mostly around the period 1870 - 1900.
Glossy jet black and matt black finishes on pressed glass are common, but I don't recall hearing the expression 'liquorice colour'.
Hope someone else can offer some positive information.
