I bought a box of weights and have managed to positively id the few decent ones apart from this closepack. Flat, polished base, 2½" in diameter and 2" tall.
My guesses have veered wildly between 'Murano' and 'Scottish' so any help would be much appreciated. ;D

Hi John,
This is definitely Murano.

Hi John
Murano although these frit bases usulally have some adventurine in them as I cant see any here.

Thank you both that is great. 8)
I can confirm that there is no aventurine in this one, I have a Toso type weight here with a frit base (that does) to compare.

I have one similar and consider it to be a circa 1960, decent murano. No aventurine in mine either.

Just seen it's twin on ebay with label which may help date it if anyone knows Murano Labels?

Lovely to see some more examples thank you, paperweights are still a bit of a mystery to me but I am slowly trying to learn more. I think it is time to invest in a book or two on the subject.
Roger, is your weight larger than this one or are the canes smaller?
John

Its a larger weight at 3.20 inches diameter. Roger.
