Title: Scandinavian?
Post by: adam20 on February 11, 2013, 10:29:29 AM
This feels and looks like Orrefors, Johansfors etc. not marked to base, flat polished. 6" high and of thick glass. Any ideas?

Does look very Orrefors I have a Palmqvist piece with Lily of the Valley on which is the same shape.

I wonder why it's not signed. I was sure Orrefors always signed. It's a lovely little piece.

Now that does look like Orrefors, I have several of those smaller vases - they are lovely.  Mine I think are all signed, but I am sure they all could not have been.

Apparently many of the small Swedish glassworks that specialised in engraving clear glass bought their blanks form Orrefors, Kosta, etc. - the larger actual makers.  They then would normally affix a paper label for cost reasons one presumes.

Here are some photos of an example from my collection which would have been created this way.
