Title: Anchor Hocking sugar bowl, or not? pattern help required please
Post by: bfg on February 12, 2013, 08:42:36 PM
I've been trying unsuccessfully to find this pattern, I had assumed it was AH as I have found this shape in other patterns by them.

The glass is semi opaque (what I would have called opaline before joining gmb lol) with a firey orange glow when held to a strong light source.

The flowers I think are stylised roses held together with a bowed ribbon - they feel slightly raised

any ideas?

many thanks
Mel

to update this thread: its Webb's! who'd have thunk it?  :o

Ref: pottery gazette advert, 1952 - plate 469, 20th Century Glass, C.R. Hajdamach

Webb's Crystal Glass Co. Ltd. DUROVEN 'oven glassware of distinction' one of at least 6 patterns

this is part of the matching tea set

I suspect that Webb's Crystal Glass might have marketed rather than made or even owned the manufacturer
