Hi All,
I found this bowl today in a wee local shop. As soon as I saw it I thought it looked very similar to a Caithness Knobbly lamp base that I have. Colours are right, base looks right.....I just cant find any mention of a textured Oban bowl any where, Mark Hill's book only mentions the vase, lamp base and a spherical vase. Could any of the GMB experts cast their eyes over it and give me their thoughts. The bowl is large at 5" tall and almost 7" including Knobs. The rim flattens over on itself (to the inside) and it has 3 pink and 4 brown stripes within it. What have I found? All thought greatly received ;D
Thanks in advance, David

Looks OK to me. There's one in one of our local antique centres; ugly things IMO

Thanks Christine, I thought it was but couldn't believe google images wouldn't bring one up! Very ugly i would agree, it will be my new change holder. Thanks again for the reply ;)
Cheers, David

It's a very well made, ugly lump of Caithness.
Using it for your spare change is one way of managing to incorporate this example of Caithness into a collection...
if you've got to keep it, it might as well work for you!
But won't it cause a lot of damage to the inside ? ;)

Hi Sue,
To be completely honest, I'm like the Queen, I don't carry money, and any I have in my pocket, the wife tends to get!!! The bowl is where I will rest the credit card, and always know where to find it ;D
By the way, I definitely made the right choice ;)
Cheers, David

I don't suppose your plastic will damage the bowl too much. :)
I'm pleased to hear your choice still stands, Your Royal Highness. ;)

I don't think it's ugly...... :-*

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, we all have different tastes - thank-goodness.
I'm delighted you do like it, Put-lug!
