Title: INFO GLEN FOUR FLOWERS VARIANT
Post by: Sue C on February 19, 2013, 12:54:27 AM
This is just some general info for Glen, bought a carnival glass piece from a charity shop, the manager told me it came from a deceased estate, it was a wedding present in 1929 and was in a cabinet along with other wedding presents, the daughter didn't want any of it? as they are just dust magnets, she came from Newcastle before she married.. (the mother that is)
It is Just  fraction over 9 1/2 inches wide. the iridescense makes it look like Bronze metal!! but the glass is in fact deep purple.
I dont know if this is of any use ? just adding to the info.

Thank you, Sue - I really appreciate you taking the time to let me know about this lovely piece, and its "story". The context is always fascinating and helps to paint the big picture.

The Four Flowers Variant is such a challenging piece. I've been studying/researching it for years and I still cannot get a conclusive attribution. I have my theories, but no proof absolute. Oh, what I would give for a catalogue illustration of this pattern! If anyone has any thoughts and ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Thank you again, Sue. A bunch of virtual flowers for you  :)
