Title: Clear glass cups, applied (cobalt?) blue handles and etched body info please?
Post by: chriss on February 22, 2013, 07:25:49 PM
Hi
I have 4 cups I'm not sure what type of cups they are (possibly punch cups?) but they each stand 3 and half inches tall and 4 and half inches across widest points from outer edge of handle across opposite side of the body. There are no makers marks or labels, so I was hoping the etchings or style of cup would help id the maker or give any other clues to someone? Thanks  :)

These are from a set - the large lidded bowl, the glass ladle and 12 cups. You may call it a punch bowl - and these were quite poplar throughout the 20s and 30s. Fruit punch is what led up to WW2.
It couldd be any glass factory from Germany, Holland or Belgium.. or further afield. These days they are impossible to shift even if complete.

Thanks very much for your info :) I'm not shifting them anyway so that's ok :)) Out of curiosity though, how did fruit punch lead up to world war 2 please?  ???
