bit of a long shot really - but am thinking biscuit barrel in view of the lack of water staining which might be apparent had it been a vase, although missing its lid if it was for biscuits.
Outlined deep curved mitres like these are typical of much mid C20 Stuart material (nd to a lesser extent W/Corbett), and the style of cutting looks very late 1940's - 50's - but don't see this pattern in the books - cutting feels quite sharp, and rings well when flicked.
About 5.75" - 145mm tall, and plenty of wear to the outer foot area beyond the star cut. I've scoured the bottom but no mark that I can see.
Just wondered if anyone recognized it or knew the name of the design, and thanks for looking. :)
