Title: Is this Vase Scandinavian ?
Post by: auliya on February 26, 2013, 07:48:46 AM
I am hoping someone can help identify this vase for me. I wondered if it was Scandinavian, or if it is an Asian copy. It is 22cms tall, 10cms in diameter at the top opening, and weighs 1.1 kilos. The base is polished flat with a rounded, rather than sharp edge.

Any help much appreciated
regards

It looks very similar to Finlandia vases designed by Timo Sarpaneva, check the base for the letters TS engraved, sometimes they are very hard to see (they are not always present).

Excellent, it looked right for Finlandia but your shape is not shown here (yet) on the Designlasi site with the other Finlandia shapes: http://www.designlasi.com/en/esinehaku?hakusana=&vamistaja=All&muotoilija=75&tarkoitus=All&sarja=158

Thank you. Someone else notified me of this yesterday, along with a link that dated it as 1968. Much appreciated.
