Title: Finely blown comport with flower garland, iridescent
Post by: glassobsessed on February 28, 2013, 10:07:15 AM
Another that has me stumped. Finely blown comport, neat snapped pontil mark and iridescent (applied to underside). 20cm in diameter with a garland of different coloured flowers around the middle.

The finish around the rim reminded me of 'stretch' glass.

Wow, thanks JP.

I did wonder about Murano, the similarity in technique to soffiati for one but the applied flowers just did not seem to fit with the little that I am familiar with.

Presumably earlier rather than later 20th century?

Ta very much.

One of the flowers is damaged (2 of 4 petals lost), I bought it in a posh 'antiques center', it had been there for at least six months - I meant to buy it the last time I was there but forgot.
