Title: Kralik? -- Purple threaded iridescent rose bowl...
Post by: rocco on March 01, 2013, 04:02:30 PM
I would think this is Kralik, but have not really found a match for the shape.
The very fine threading and colour look similar to "Kralik threaded" on Craig's site (for instance >> this one (http://www.kralik-glass.com/kralik-images/threaded/kt5.jpg))
Diameter is 10.5 cm, height 7 cm. The foot is colourless glass, and the iridiscence is all over (inside as well), but rather delicate.

Thanks!
Michael

A polite bump :)
Or is it the shape / decor not distinct enough to be attributed to a certain maker?

Thanks!
Michael

The threading looks different in that it is clear and not self-coloured  ???

It reminds me of a horrendously damaged and very expensive bit in Abernyte (a local antique centre) which is differs only in having aventurine in the body - and a slightly different shape. I have alwyas assumed it was Murano of some sort, because of the aventurine. The threading is clear and thin and it's rather lovely.

Thank you so much for your comments, highly appreciated! :)

And I had thought this one has to be Bohemian around 1900...
I should stick to the collectiong areas I know a little bit about; but at a prize of 70 cents it had to come home with me.

I looked at it more closer, and I think the piece is purple cased in colourless glass, with the threading being colourless as well, then the whole surface iridized. But quite hard to discern (the colour fades towards the base)

Rose bowls have been and probably still are made all over the world; they have quite a following.

Thanks again, Christine!
Having looked at hundreds of pictures of rose bowls and threaded vases it still looks more Bohemian than anything else; but I am aware now that other options are not impossible...
