Title: Silver mica used by the Ysart's

Below are two boxes of Christmas Frost (silver mica) of the type used by Monart and Vasart as type of decoration in their glassware.
The second image is reproduced by kind permission of Ian Turner.
I realise this a bit of a long shot, can any one put a date on either of the boxes. It was Woolworth's that sold them in the Christmas period.

There's another current listed for sale, which suggest 1930s...?

Thanks for the link Greg, the box of glitter on ebay is IMHO by the same maker as my packet of glitter. Though I suspect my one is of a slightly later date and I Turner one is a later production than mine.
The one on eBay (if the date is correct) would tie in with the date Monart first used silver mica circa early 1930's.

But did '50s children differ very much from '30s children in dress?
I'm sure I was dressed in the same sorts of clothes as Mother wore when she was small.  :-X

Well... until bri-nylon came in and shocked us all. Literally. At least it was a warning to get away before you were doubly affronted by the BO it caused!

I do not remember mica being used as glitter. It was always the square bits of stuff that got everywhere every year.

Mica was certainly sold in that form/ function 1920s and late as 1950s. Box dating needs contemporary ads really as graphics often had a long life.

You could try getting the typefaces used IDd on a graphics arts forum....might give you an earliest possible date.
