Help with identification please :) Is it whitefriars? Age? Maker? Value? Any help please! :)
-
Not Whitefriars. Sorry but we don't do valuations, as they are too subjective
-
Welcome to the gmb! :)
Water jugs are a minefield, I'm afraid. Very many come from Poland - they are beautifully made and often have round polished pontil marks, but tracking down an actual maker is virtually impossible. Very few water jugs will have much interest from collectors - even when a good maker can be attributed.
Decorative value only.

Looks like it might have a little age, perhaps as old as the thirties, anyone?

I was also thinking thirties but i am by no means a glass expert, porcelain is more my area of expertise! I paid £15 for this piece, i'm confident that i should be able to turn a profit! Any other info anyone could give me would be great!
-
It reminds me of a Tamara Aladin Kleopatra knock-off and I wouldn't have thought it was 1930s
-
I can see the resemblance but i wreckon if it was a knockoff they might have made a better attempt at the handle to make it similar to a Tamara Aladin Kleopatra jug, it misses the iconic swirl and the rim isn't a clear defined circle ... oh water jugs ... why art thou such a mystery?..... ::)
-
Perhaps knock-off is the wrong term. Based on might be better. Designs are often interpreted by other companies
-
Possibly, would you hazard a guess at the age of the piece?
-
1970s perhaps from the shade of green

Ahh fair play :) A nice bit of retro, could make someone a nice vase then :P I keep looking to make friends with an interior designer as I get a heck of a lot of glass come into my hands, could be useful to them but those kinds of connections are difficult to make lol! Thanks for all of your help on this one - If it's not too much trouble would you mind taking a look at the purple spherical glass that i've uploaded? It's really pretty, i was thinking maybe Scandinavian? As I've said, i'm no glass expert so it's mainly guesswork. ::)
