Title: Funky Drinking Glasses
Post by: adam20 on March 13, 2013, 03:01:14 PM
Thought I'd post these two glasses. 7 inches high with atomic age designs in enamel and gilt. Love them.

They look like they might be  Alexander Hardie Williamson designs for Ravenhead

They're lager glasses, and I'm never sure whether these designs are AHW or not!
But I agree, they are rather gorgeous for using.

I did once find a fabulous set of 6, with a matching jug, the images were black and gold - similar to the one at the back of your pic Adam - but the picture was of fantasy horses. I gave it to my brother.

If the glass in the foreground were in the USA I would say Federal Glass.  Federal did a nearly identical design in blue/gold, and white/gold, and black/gold on pilsners, highballs, and many other styles of glasses.  Do a google search for [ mid century federal boomerang ] and you'll see what I mean.

That said, I don't recognize that particular glass as Federal.

Here's a pair of the same glass with a different design in Canada. Ebay link -> http://www.ebay.com/itm/160986639169?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D160986639169%26_rdc%3D1

I do see that design around quite frequently in charity shops too.
I've never considered that they might not be British before - because of seeing them so often.

(But not with the same frequency as Ravenhead Fiesta!)
