Title: Carnival
Post by: Gowdod on March 14, 2013, 10:18:30 PM
Well it's a carnival glass vase 6" tall, green base colour, gold irridesence. Whose it by? Ede, Elme...is it scandinavian? I'ye tried to find out but with no success.  What do you sleuths think? Thanks Andrew

In my humble opinion, I don't feel that your lovely vase is actually Carnival. To be Carnival Glass, it should be iridised, moulded and with a pattern. Your vase is most likely blown into a mould and is certainly iridised, but it doesn't have a pattern and I believe it also has a pontil mark. If I had to guess where it was made, I'd plump for Bohemia, but that's just a wild guess. Others may be able to give you more info.

Glen,

thanks.

I've done a little more scouring the web and have found these which are very similar in style esp the treatment to the decanter lip.

I know Inwald did carnival glass, I wonder how available their stannus pot was? ;)

Kind Regards

Andrew
