Here is a large 8 inches tall eagle in amethyst glass with gold leaf on a rugged clear glass plinth - labelled Tweedsmuir Chris Dodds. I wonder if anyone can tell me about it. Can't find much by googling.
Thanks Adam

One of Chris Dodd's more spectacular bits! He is a very highly-rated maker.
I've got a fairly big unicorn, another somewhat spectacular and slightly different piece,( I should get around to photographing it for here ::) ) but it's not as spectacular as your eagle!

Hi Adam, I collect Chris Dodds glass and have three of these eagles, two with the gold leaf finish and one with a beautiful lustre finish.
I also have a large lustre finish squirrel in the same large size and a spectacular Gold owl.
In addition, I have several of his smaller cats and squirrels and the beautiful curl tailed ducks he made.
I'll post pictures tomorrow as it is a bit late now.
All the information I have been able to glean is that Chris worked at Selkirk Glass for some time and then opened his own studios in Tweedsmuir.
I also collect Selkirk Glass and it is very clear to see the same style in both makes of glass.
I will show pieces together as well so you an see what I mean.
I understand that he now no longer makes glass, but I have yet to find out what he is doing.

He was working as a gardener in England. Search this board for more info....

Your'e right Frank, there is a lot of info here on the board....today has just slipped by without time to put photos on...but I have a quiet weekend ahead so I'll get them on then Adam.
-
Here we go Adam, I'll post a few for you now:
-
The other eagle and the owl and the squirrel.
-
And the ducks and cats.
-
And a few others, although I do have very many more!!
-
A couple of interesting others, the leopard has been lightened in one picture to show the intricacy of the markings.
I hope these help you to realise why I am so in awe of Chris's talent and am an avid collector of his glass animals.
Rosie. :)
