A recent acquisition and my first older Lalique piece so I have some questions.
1) Many pictures of this vase I see are satin (frosted) opalescent. This one, to my eye, is just frosted - no opalescence. I saw some pictures of this vase that were colored, the description mentioned 'sepia patina' another had a greenish patina. I have not cleaned this vase since I've had it and there appears to be some coloration on the surface that I initially thought was grime. Do you think it could be this 'sepia patina' that has been warn away? If so, how much if any would this diminish it's resale value.
2) The clear (non-frosted) bits on the berries and stem structures. I assume they are manufactured this way and not from wear?
3) I read, I think at Christies, that the vase was designed in 1922 and produced into the early '30s. Any idea where I can find the production numbers for my own curiosity sake to understand it's rarity.
4) Lastly, I'm always Leary of fakes. Given it's a known R. Lalique design, to me the signature looks authentic as well. Does anyone see any reason for doubt.
Thanks, -Buck
Oh, it's just under 7" tall and just under 4-1/4" wide.

I can't help with your questions but have you seen the information on here?

Thanks M,
Yes, the rlalique site was one of the first I checked. Good site there!

The one that turned up on Antiques Roadshow a while back (It had been bought at a car boot - the lady had bought a plant which was in it.) had grubby looking green stuff on it.
I'm afraid I thought it was utterly hideous and would probably have just binned it - not even going to the trouble of trying to clean the green muck off!
Your yellowy stuff does sort of look as if it's meant to be there though.
Before I blow the pics up, they do look a bit opalescent - but it is just the yellow stuff.

Thanks Sue, after looking at it closer I'm sure the 'patina' is intentional.
My wife found this one in a charity shop. We don't have too many 'car boot' sales here but there are quite a few garage sales (aka yard sales) in the spring and summer where people get rid of goods in an effort to clear out clutter, etc. Evidenced by a $10 garage sale sticker on it this one had evidently gone some days unsold before it was donated. I wonder how many people looked at it throughout the garage sale and thought the price was bit high for an old French vase. ;D Looks like I'll be increasing my own donations to this shop for karma sake. 8)

Sounds like a good idea :) -(being good top the shop that was good to you)
And leave the yellow stuff alone - no getting out the wire wool. ;)

Hi
1. yes remains of original sepia staining -nice just like that
2. yes and hard to achieve -always be worried when a Rene Lalique piece hasn't got frosted and polished areas
3. Production numbers -unknown they probably made a lot but they were always expensive
4. its 100% right
Nice piece shame not opalescent
