Title: Maybe 19th century moulded salts???Or modern repro???folded rims!!
Post by: glasskillian on March 30, 2013, 08:31:21 AM
These intrigue me although they appear to be old items the lack of wear to the base leads me to believe they are made to deceive, I cant work it out for sure as i wouldnt have thought the work involved in making them would be cost effective for a reproducer of such small pieces?? They measure 4" wide 2" tall snapped pontil scar,Folded rim, The glass has small air bubbles and tiny bits of black inside the glass which seems right but the lack of wear is putting me off. Also the shape isnt one iv seen before maybe you have im not sure they are salts whats else could they be??
thanks for looking.

I think these are ashtrays made in Egypt - but I cannot prove it. Somewhere I have a large green bowl with a folded rim like that - it never struck me as old.

Thankyou ivo for your kind response!!!
think you coud be spot on as the lack of wear shows they might well be very modern ;)
