Title: Vasart Kingfisher?
Post by: Nick77 on March 31, 2013, 10:01:51 AM
Just checking through ebay and found the below listed as a Vasart Kingfisher. It is labelled as Vasart, I've never seen anything like this is it genuine? If so I guess that as per the sellers description it is very rare? Made by Slavador perhaps?

Hi Nick,

A really interesting weight indeed. I have seen this feather effect on other Ysart pieces (but I was not sure whether they were Salvador, Paul or another brother). Having said that this feather effect is also common in weights from other countries (e.g. Belgium).

The lampwork is sweet but I have no idea who could have made it (except that it is not by Paul Ysart). It may be Salvador's but I have seen too few of his lampwork pieces to hazard a guess.

Yes, if this weight were Vasart it would be quite rare indeed.

I am sure that the Ysart specialists will tell us more though.

I seem to recall an article somewhere with that effect linked to the name Frank Eisner I also have what I believe is a large Bohemian weight with the same , my memory like the rest of me is fading a bit , even my six pack has turned into a barrel . :'(

hi ray
I could say like you:
"the kingsfisher was made by murano lampworkers.
labels are labels and easy to put on every weight!
Why you are sure?
What are the reasons?
