Reminds of the 'space' inspired Peter Holmes weights.
Sorry if it's an easy one but I did have a good look, and thought the base unusual. It's 3" diameter.
Thanks Chris

Hi Chris. I assumed it was a 'Moonflower' at first sight, rather than a 'Planet' piece. I don't know what the 'O 1971' means though.

Thanks Alan think it is, looking at the images on S/G looks like 1st variation in green? though It's predominately brown with red and and a really vivid green with just the plume being 'green'
Maybe a second it does have a lot of flow lines in the glass. Though not seem them marked as such normally the C11G
The images on line of the 1st variation all seem to have the name and code etched on the base.

looks like the o 1971 was not added by caithness as they would of used diamond point
-
Were some of the early ones not rather crudely hand signed ?
Thanks for taking time to comment.

Hi Chris. I think the answer is 'yes' to hand signed - but using a diamond point, not a rotary engraving tool.

I see now Alan, thank you. No significance then? probably added by an amateur hand though cannot see the significance.
Thanks again Chris
