Title: "Organ Glass"
Post by: Knightc on April 13, 2013, 05:35:00 PM
I inherited two vases that I was told were called "Organ Glass".  I've had them for 30 years and got them from my grandmother who collected antiques.  Can anyone give me the proper name of these, any history and potential value?  Thanks!

Looks to be Goofus Glass probably from a U.S. manufacturer like Westmoreland or Indiana Glass as both made tons of it. Below is a URL & even though its from NZ it covers just about everything. On eBay just search goofus glass & you will see hundrerds of pieces.

The link should cover just about everything Ken, as it's the Glass Museum (http://www.glass.co.nz/) belonging to this board's owner, Angela Bowey.  8)  Lots of articles there and on the associated Glass Encyclopedia (http://www.glassencyclopedia.com) about all types of glass.  The Glass Encyclopedia has a small page on goofus, with a custom goofus glass search and links to books about goofus glass: http://www.glassencyclopedia.com/goofusglass.html

We see a little of it here, Ken, but not much. The most commonly seen pieces I find in goofus are the commemorative royal plates.
