Title: Oliva or Svoboda?
Post by: brain_11 on May 04, 2013, 07:07:58 PM
I have this large (30cm) heavy glass vase. In one of the Sypka auction catalogues it is listed as Ladislav Oliva, but on the net is often described as Jaroslav Svoboda. Can anyone confirm the designer?

It is 7302 Svoboda. This tall version is less commonly found than others. A really good piece of 70s design! For me, the drips recall earlier eras of trailed designs, but presented in a modern style.

Thanks Robert, then the Czech auction house got it wrong.

No problem Attila. The Sypka catalogues are very useful to own as they are generally very accurate,

I can see where the confusion has arisen.
The drips are just like the design at the top and bottom of the Oliva piece I got last year.
